Product Redesign
The speculum is innovative because it inflates and deflates according to whatever size is needed, eliminating the pinching a poking that comes with speculum use. The instrument has an angled handle for easy to insertion and handling. The handle is attached to an inflatable tubing-- about the size of a tampon-- that inserts into the vagina and then expands. The tubing is tapered at the inserting end to make it easier for insertion, and the handle has two buttons that inflate and deflate the tubing accordingly. On top of the handle, there is a hole in which a built-in light shines through, into the tubing area for easy sight. The light and battery are removable and reusable; they can be pulled down, out of the handle to reuse. The tubing clicks into the handle to attach and can be removed similarly to reuse the handle. The handle is made of a sturdy silicone material that can be disinfected. The tubing is made from a soft polyurethane, so insertion is a gentle and easy process.
